Triple H’s first WrestleMania as the creative head of the WWE was a tremendous success. Fans seemed quite satisfied with what he offered to them. The event was full of surprises and jaw-dropping moments.

However, there was another thing that WWE Universe was expecting. A 22-year-old US gold medalist was about to debut on the grandest stage as the ‘next Brock Lesnar’, but it didn’t happen. Initially, it was a mystery, but now the famous American journalist pulled the drapes out of it.

Dave Meltzer details Triple H’s failed plan for the young star at WWE

Recently, on the ‘Wrestler Observer Radio’, the popular American journalist Dave Meltzer talked about WWE’s failed plan for US gold medalist Gable Steveson.

Meltzer revealed that originally, the 22-year-old star was set to make a few appearances on RAW to build hype around his debut. He even mentioned that Steveson was supposed to make his WWE debut at WrestleMania 39, but it didn’t happen.

Talking about Gable Steveson, Dave Meltzer said, “The original idea was he was gonna do college wrestling that season, which he did, and they were gonna bring him to a couple of Raws during the year. He wasn’t gonna wrestle, but he was gonna make appearances to build up his debut which was gonna be at WrestleMania. And yeah, never appeared, still hasn’t appeared…..”

Not only this, but Dave Meltzer also gave the possible reason why Triple H’s plan for Gable Steveson didn’t work at WWE.

Further, the popular American journalist has the potential reason why Triple H’s massive plan for Gable Steveson failed. 

According to Meltzer, WWE failed to build the required hype around Steveson, so they had to drop the idea. He even revealed that a year ago, he found out that just after completing the college season, gable was about to debut as the main roster directly, but it never happened.

“Obviously that has not materialized……..He hasn’t lit the world on fire by any means and they haven’t put him on for that very reason. In January of 2022, over a year ago, I remember being told Gable Steveson is going to be fast-tracked to the main roster right after the college season is over……which also didn’t happen.”

Now that WWE has dropped the idea of the ‘next Brock Lesnar’, Gable Steveson decided to return to Amateur Wrestling. Initially, his decision came out to be shocking for fans, but now it makes much more sense. 

The ‘next Brock Lesnar’ was Triple H’s major plan for the WWE Universe. Now that it has drastically failed, it would be interesting to see what else WWE CCO has in his arsenal for the fans.
