Nevertheless, the rain did not affect the spirits of the drivers’ as they were at their competitive best and gave another shot to make it to the post-season and collect the extra stage points. Although the race witnessed a favorable restart without any major incidents, it was surely short-lived, and the driver in the limelight was Joe Gibbs Racing‘s Denny Hamlin.

Denny Hamlin has surely come off strong this season, snatching two victories by taking the lead in the final laps. Pit stops have been a big issue for a few drivers, including for 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace. The #23 driver has been vocal about the persistent hiccups that he has faced when it comes to executing perfect pit stops. However, it seems that on the track of Michigan, it was his boss Denny Hamlin who hit the roadblock.

The incident occurred when Hamlin started to leave the pit road, after a good stop. The #11 Toyota came to a halt and was unable to fire up. Although the pit crew tried to provide a push to the car, it was in vain. Nevertheless, the driver eventually started back his engine and return back into the race but was forced to lose positions and fell back in the pack.

Describing his situation the driver revealed to Frontstretch, “I stalled it and then I hit the starter too quickly and then I went into some kind of mode and then you got to recycle it all, so that affected us but it didn’t much. We were able to get a really good restart and our cars fast enough to gain it back there through the race.”

This is not the first time that Hamlin an obstacle hit a roadblock on the pit road this season. It also happened during the season opener at Daytona. The driver had also heaved his disappointment towards his crew which cost him a fourth Daytona 500 win.

After Monday’s disastrous pit stop, NASCAR reporter Jeff Gluck also wrote on his Twitter profile and informed, “Disaster moment for Denny Hamlin, who can’t get his car going after his pit stop for a few moments. Loses tons of track position after he had got himself into contention.”
