In a follow-up to an earlier incident between Tamim Iqbal  and Rilee Rossouw, South African wicket keeper and batsman, Quinton de Kock was slapped with a 75% match fee fine for his ugly on-field antics against the Bangladeshi opener.

Bangladesh batted in patches on Day 2 of the first test, wherein Tamim and his partner, Mahmudullah were in a key partnership when the incident occurred.

Quinton De Kock is still finding his feet in test matches, having played just 4 tests before this, since his debut in whites for the Proteas against Australia in Port Elizabeth earlier last year.

According to an ICC release, the 22-year-old from the Johannesburg shoulder barged the Bangladeshi opener in a deliberate action just before lunch on the second day of the test match at Chittagong.

Chris Broad, the match referee went on to term the action as ‘inappropriate and deliberate physical contact’.

“Quinton de Kock walked in front of the stumps to confront Tamim Iqbal. In doing so de Kock deliberately brushed Tamim Iqbal’s shoulder and rib area,” Broad made the statement.” This resulted in a heated exchange between the two, initiated by the contact made by de Kock. This type of incident has no place on a cricket field,” he added.
