By definition, football is a team sport where every member plays a key role. However, the quarterback is often put under the spotlight. Having a competent QB at the helm is often the determining factor between winning and losing teams. While the Miami Dolphins showed promise this season, their inconsistency with having a healthy QB caused a series of highs and lows.
Tua Tagovailoa was destined for greatness. However, despite the promise he has shown, he missed several games because of injuries. No matter how talented a QB is, the constant susceptibility to injury could put a franchise in a precarious position. And that’s something that the Dolphins have been facing. However. one recent update regarding a strategy concerning Tagovailoa’s health made this recently released left tackle laugh out loud. So, what was the update that brought out this reaction?

Tua Tagovailoa has succumbed to one of the many elements of a contact-heavy sport. The multiple injuries he’s had doesn’t exactly make him Mr. Dependable. However, in order to train the QB to protect his head from intense contact, the practice of Jiu-Jitsu was suggested.
This is genuinely hilarious.
No disrespect to Tua but learning martial arts just to learn the art of falling?

This offseason, Tagovailoa is set to learn key elements of the martial art that will aid in his ability to navigate his way through the field. After suffering two concussions this season alongside a big hit that left him struggling to walk off the field against the Bills, there’s no doubt that the Dolphins are doing all that they can to make sure that their QB remains healthy. However, recently released left tackle Taylor Lewan took a shot at the Dolphins QB.
Taking to Twitter, the former Tennessee star said, “This is genuinely hilarious. No disrespect to Tua but learning martial arts just to learn the art of falling? The dudes tackling buddy aren’t TRYING to hurt him, just apart of the game.” While Lewan may have assumed that he was making a valid point, the NFL world disagreed. Here’s what they had to say.
The NFL world defended Tagovailoa
According to the 3x Pro Bowler, Tagovailoa’s move to learn a martial art to cope with falling on the field is unnecessary as falling or being tackled is ‘a part of the game.’ But, fans were quick to point out the seriousness of the QB’s situation.

Another fan applauded
The fact he's taking any step to try to protect himself should be applauded. It may teach him how to tuck his chin and be prepared to fall. The dude is at least trying to protect his health.

This user explained
The first thing you learn in joint lock martial arts is how to fall properly. It actually is a learned skill. When you’re being flipped upside down unexpectedly there are techniques you learn.
