In one of his press conferences, Manchester United boss, Louis Van Gaal has admitted that a big money contract has already been offered to David De Gea. It is believed that a contract extension of around five years is offered which will see him earn a paycheck of around £150,000 a week. This wage will apparently make him the highest paid goalkeeper in the EPL.
Despite offering such a lucrative contract, Van Gaal seems to be uncertain in answering, whether De Gea will be staying put or not. Van Gaal’s words on De Gea’s contract situation:
“It takes a long time now, so it can always happen. But I am not the boss. I want him to stay. The player is the boss, he can say ‘yes’ or ‘no’. You will have to ask David de Gea, not me. He has to sign. We have offered him a lot of money.” (as per mirror)
There has been a lot of talk in the media regarding De Gea’s contract situation and the interest Real Madrid have shown in the Man United starlet. With only one year left in the contract of the £50m rated goalkeeper and Manchester United desperate to keep him, it’s all up to the United no. 1, whether he is willing to stay or not.
