The news will come as an absolute delight for United fans as De Gea was voted their Best Player last season, and was on Real Madrid’s radar. While Madrid were not able to sign the keeper on the last day of deadline due to “technical” errors, it was much speculated that he will join the Los Blancos after this season when his contract expires. But clearly this isn’t the case now.

“I am absolutely delighted David has signed a new contract. He is one of the best goalkeepers in world football. I am very pleased that he will be part of the team for many years to come. David made a very important contribution to our performance last season and he has been the club’s Player of the Year for the last two seasons. He is a popular player who is keen to learn and enhance his game. At such a young age for a goalkeeper, he has many years ahead of him.”
United play Liverpool in a highly anticipated clash on Saturday, and now it looks like De Gea will definitely start for the Manchester club.
