Daniil Medvedev is one of the favorites in absence of the Serb

Due to Djkovic’s absence, the focus on being the favorite has shifted to Medvedev. Recently, the Russian player was asked about the situation surrounding Djokovic.

He mentioned that the Australian Open is one of his favorite and most successful tournaments. However, to win the competition is still a long way to go as one has to win all seven matches in a row.

Speaking on the current scenario, Medvedev stated, “Melbourne and Rod Laver Arena is his favorite place in the world (…) but the fact he isn’t here can’t change my approach here. Still 7 matches to win a Slam.”

Reflecting on the rivalry between Medvedev and Djokovic, they dominated a majority of the scenes on the tour last season. They faced each other in two grand slam finals.
