Tennis stars Daniil Medvedev and Emma Raducanu have impressed one and all with their performances in recent times. The Russian powerhouse has been one of the most exceptional players in the men’s section. Whereas, the British star lived a fairytale during the US Open 2021.

Due to their splendid performances last season, Medvedev and Raducanu have been nominated for the 2022 Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year Award. It comes as a huge honor for both stars, as this is considered one of the most prestigious awards for an athlete.

Daniil Medvedev and Emma Raducanu are in good company 

Besides these two athletes, there are four more on the list who have done exceptionally well in their respective sports. Indian Javelin gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, Barcelona talent Pedri Gonzalez, Venezuelan Olympic athlete Yulimar Rojas, and Australian swimmer Ariarne Titmus are the other nominees. 

It will surely be a hotly contested battle between the 6 nominees, and honestly, there aren’t any wrong choices.

Coming to tennis, Medvedev and Raducanu won the US Open last season in the men’s and women’s singles, respectively. Both players played exceptionally well and knocked out some of the best players in the game. Due to their consistent performances, they lifted their first Grand Slam titles. 

Speaking about the Russian, he was the only player who managed to knock out World No. 1 Novak Djokovic in a Grand Slam match last season. On the other hand, Raducanu appeared for the first time at the US Open and ended up winning the title, which is not a common experience for any player.

Both players were recently seen at the Australian Open 2022, unfortunately, Raducanu crashed out in the second round which came as a disappointment. On the other side, Daniil came to the final but fell short against Rafael Nadal. Well, we are still in the early days of the 2022 season and we wish all these amazing athletes the best of luck.
