The unsung hero of the race, Daniil Kvyat gave an emotional interview after finishing third in the German Grand Prix. Arguably the best race of the season, fans were given their share of action and saw almost everything under the sun with theatrics from Max, Bottas, Hamilton and Vettel.

2019 has been one hell of a year for the Russian. First thrown from Red Bull into Toro Rosso and then out in 2018, he made a stellar comeback this year. Taking Toro Rosso’s second podium after Vettel’s 2008 win in Monza, Daniil Kvyat revealed that his baby daughter was born the night before the race and he couldn’t tell his fans before the race started amidst the action. “We don’t have a name yet, and we’ll get there soon.”, he said. “I am bursting to get home, and am onboard a flight with Max. Half a beer is all I’m going to have, to get ready for baby duties once I land.”, the new daddy added.

Further, he went on to speak about the race – “It was an amazing race. I feel a little bit surreal at this moment. Its been 11 years since Toro Rosso’s podium and I am delighted to have been a part of it. This doesn’t feel like any other podium to be honest, and I was readier than ever to fight for this kind of a position.“
This year, I am more mature and much cooler, making me ready to fight on top. Today, I proved it to myself and the fans and I hope soon this will become a habit. Thanks to everybody for an absolutely incredible day. ”
“I want to make sure next year that I get more chances like this every weekend.”, he said before he signed off.

On one side, both Toro Rosso drivers impressed, Red Bull’s very own Pierre Gasly had a horrific day, earlier being overtaken by Alex Albon on track and then crashing his car at the back of the Toro Rosso in a desperate bid to overtake him later. Will Red Bull still put their faith in the Frenchman or will the seat come calling for Daniil Kvyat?
Only time will tell.
