And most recently, a 5’9 basketball sensation who participated in the league captured NBA fans’ attention.

Basketball fever takes over the city of Miami as the renowned Miami Pro League keeps the courts at Miami Senior High School ablaze during the sweltering summer days. High-level basketball players looking for an intensive and competitive atmosphere to sharpen their abilities during the offseason now flock to this elite 8-team, 6-week summer league. The league has grown so popular over the years that the games are even live-streamed.
Starting in early July, the league saw jaw-dropping dunks, deft crossovers, and heart-pounding buzzer-beaters leaving fans on the edge of their seats. Every Tuesday and Thursday, Miami Senior High School’s courts witness basketball genius. And most recently, Gabriel Fernandez, a player who attended the league, graced the court last Thursday. And he seems to have impressed fans with his dunks.

Hernandez, the basketball prodigy, studied at Doral Academy. Following his formative years, he made an official commitment to Barry University, deciding to pursue his academic and athletic career with the Buccaneers. In his senior season, his team won the District 15-7A Championship and advanced to the Regional Semifinals of the coveted 2023 FHSAA State Tournament. Furthermore, he was named the Most Valuable Player after his outstanding leadership helped the Firebirds win the Kelleher Law Hoopfest Championship. He will now join the Buccaneer class of 2027.
