Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated exclusives that will accompany the launch of the next-gen consoles. The game’s senior quest designer Patrick K Mills revealed an astonishing piece of information at the Night City Wire.

CD Projekt Red had previously suggested that Cyberpunk 2077 would have a shorter campaign. This was to make sure the game would have a high completion rate.

Mills reiterated this in the latest Night City Wire episode, confirming that Cyberpunk 2077 will have a shorter campaign compared to Witcher 3. But there will be a tremendous amount of side plots the players can indulge in apart from the main story.

“We got a lot of complaints about The Witcher 3’s main story just being too long,” said Mills. “And looking at the metrics you see tremendous amounts of people played through that game really far, but never made it to the end.”

Cyberpunk 2077: Shorter campaign to achieve a better completion rate

Even though Witcher 3’s completion rate wasn’t ideal, it doesn’t mean the game wasn’t successful. It simply means that not everyone who purchased the game finished it. However, CDPR wants to change that with their upcoming title since they want all players to live the whole story.

“We want you to see the whole story. So we did shorten the main story, but we have lots to do and in terms of a completionist campaign, I just don’t have that number.”

However, to make Cyberpunk 2077 grander than the previous titles, CD Projekt Red has added more resources to make sure that the side quests feel like a part of the main story.

This way, the character will be both closer and away from the main story at the same time. This will keep the players intrigued as they try to fulfill the objectives to go from one side of the story to the next.

Also, according to the head of the CD Projekt’s Krakow studio, Cyberpunk 2077 will feature 75 ‘Street Story’ quests. Street stories are one of four types of quests in the game. Completing them will increase V’s popularity and reputation in Night City, making him more fierce and robust.

It seems like CD Projekt Red have done a meticulous analysis of its previous titles before coming up with Cyberpunk 2077. It certainly looks more complete and oriented than any we have seen from the studio before. Moreover, it is one of the few games that can be upgraded for free to the next-gen version if purchased on the current-gen console. Stay tuned to get more updates on the same!
