Crytek is responsible for the creation of some enthralling combat games. Fans had hoped that Crysis Remastered would meet expected standards, but it failed to deliver. However, all hope is not lost for Crytek. The launch of the next-gen consoles is around the corner, and it could function as an impetus for Crytek to use its resources to try to redeem itself.

Recent reports suggest that the developer is planning a free-to-play battle royale. The title might be available for PC and the next-gen consoles and would feature as a fresh addition in the Crysis universe.

Crysis Next to be free to play battle royale?

It seems like Crytek has taken matters into its own hands to make sure they deliver an enchanting addition to its list of titles. More importantly, Crytek’s official website has hinted towards an interesting update. The update suggests that the studio is hiring more staff for the development of a new title. But it is more or less clear from the post that the title is currently in the very early stages.

The description says, “Crysis Next is a free-to-play Battle Royale game where 100s of players collide in the fast-paced combat. Visual customization, adaptive Nanosuit powers, and visually spectacular combat in an immersive world create the ultimate live streaming experience.”

Moreover, Crytek has all the necessary resources to make the battle royale stand out. The previous titles in the franchise have been known for their extensive gameplay and stunning visuals. So, it’s safe to assume that they would base the new one on the same credentials.

The studio has not announced, or even hinted, at a date of release, which is understandable given it’s still early days. It is possible that Crysis Next will feature on both the next-gen consoles and PC in 2021. In addition, it is also possible that it will collide with BR giants like Fortnite and Warzone that have become blueprints for titles following the same route.
