Rumours of the potential move to the Serie A champions have been heating up over the past week. Now, it seems that the transfer could be concluded as early as Tuesday afternoon.
It is understood that Juventus president Andrea Agnelli travelled to Greece, where Ronaldo is on holiday. He personally went to present the five-time Ballon d’Or winner with a contract to sign. Meanwhile, Florentino Pérez has given his approval for the club’s all-time record goalscorer to depart.
Ever since he moved to the Santiago Bernabéu in 2009, Ronaldo has been linked with moves away from the Spanish capital. But now, it seems will now come to pass.
Ronaldo is currently on a postseason break in Greece following his Champions League campaign. In the process, he helped Madrid achieve a third straight Champions League title. He later went on to captain his country at the World Cup in Russia.
Sources have confirmed that the Juventus boss has travelled all the way to meet Ronaldo to finalise the deal.
It has also been reported that Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri and Ronaldo spoke on the phone last Friday regarding the deal.
Following Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Liverpool in the Champions League final, he sparked speculation over his Spanish future. Keen eared listeners would have noticed that he spoke about his time at the club in the past tense. He said, “It has been very nice being at Real Madrid.”
