Will Ronaldo miss the FIFA World Cup 2022?
Representing your country at the FIFA World Cup is considered the highest honor in world football. Hence, qualifying for the same is no easy task. Those who failed in the first attempt will now have one final chance, competing in the playoffs. The European playoffs comprise ten teams who are placed second in the group, with the two best teams from the UEFA Nations League joining them. The organizers split them into three brackets, with three winners ultimately on their way to Qatar.
Hence, many players are in danger of missing out on the competition, one being the GOAT himself, Cristiano Ronaldo.
After Portugal lost to Serbia in stoppage-time, they finished the group in second place, denting their hopes of qualification. With Ronaldo fighting for what could be his last major international competition, it would a huge disappointment for fans to see him miss the World Cup next year.
However, Ronaldo may not be the only bearer of bad news.
Zlatan, Lewandowski, Chiesa on the brink of elimination
With Italy losing out on automatic qualification, star players like Federico Chiesa and Leonardo Bonucci would miss the chance to play in the tournament next year. These two players were important to Italy’s success during the Euros as they defeated England in the final. Likewise, apart from Ronaldo, Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias from the Manchester City contingent also risk missing out on the competition.
Both teams have tremendous potential and it would be disappointing for the fans if they don’t make it.

The best of the rest includes Poland’s, Robert Lewandowski. On the other hand, Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson and Scott McTominay will face other teams during the playoffs to help Scotland book their tickets to Qatar.
Last but not least, would be Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Notably, the lion returned to the Swedish national side after retiring from the national team initially. In terms of raw talent and fitness, Ibrahimovic is right up there with the best, despite being 40.
