The cricket industry arrived at a sudden halt due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Since then fans have been waiting anxiously for the return of the game. During the majority part of the wait it seemed like there was no possible way that the game will restart anytime soon. Fortunately, Vincy Premier League (VPL) 2020 is in the works to resume on the 22nd of May.

SVGCA announces The commence date of T10 series – VPL 2020

The St. Vincent and Grenadines Cricket Association (SVGCA) is launching the very first T10 tournament. This will be played between six franchises over a 9 day period. The overall number of matches will be 30. The finals of the VPL 2020 will be on 31st May.

The teams will play at the Arnos Valley Sporting Complex. Each of the names have been named after the famous tourist attractions of St. Vincent and Grenadines.

The president of SVGCA, Dr. Kishore Shallow, said that he is quite optimistic about the tournament.

It is an exciting time for cricket in SVG, I can feel the buzz of sports enthusiasts who are thirsty for some cricket and sports. We came up with this T10 franchise format because of the absence of sports content at this point and thought that this brand of cricket would be enticing to cricket fans across the globe in a short duration. The competition will be over a 10-day period, and all 30 matches will be streamed live.”

Botanic Gardens Rangers: Kesrick Williams (Marquee player); Nixon Mclean (coach).

Grenadines Divers: Obed McCoy (Marquee player); Ian Allen(coach).
