The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, had announced a ?Janta Curfew??on Sunday 22nd March. The idea behind this is to make sure that no citizen is out on the street from 7:00am to 9:00pm. This decision is taken keeping in mind the outbreak of Coronavirus all over the world. The number of positive cases are arising at an accelerated rate in India. Therefore, only people who could take to the streets are the individuals from essential services.

Not only this, he also said that at 5:00pm, the country will unite to showcase a round of appreciation for the essential services workers. He said that people can clap theirs hands, beat utensils, and ring bells to show their gratitude. This initiative was supported by celebrities that included Indian Cricket players as well. All of them took to Twitter to ensure their fans and audience know the cause and take appropriate action.
It so happens that the entire nation did unite at 5:00pm to clap theirs hands and ring bells and beat utensils. Almost every citizen came to the balcony to express their appreciation for the workers. The idea behind this Janta Curfew is to ensure that everyone takes the threat seriously. This is a way to initiate the process of self-isolation. Additionally, word is that the virus lasts for 12 hours. Hence, if there is no further spread for 12 hours, it is possible to curb the spread.
