MS Dhoni is going to be leading Chennai Super Kings at IPL 2020. However, this is the first time he is going to play on-field since the 2019 World Cup semi-finals. Ever since the revelation that Dhoni will be playing at the IPL, speculations regarding his return to the Indian team are making rounds.
Initially, when MSK Prasad was leading the selection panel, it was quite clear that the management is moving on to the next wicket-keeper. The first choice for the replacement was Rishabh Pant. Unfortunately, he was dropped after KL Rahul started performing brilliantly on-field.

MS Dhoni can still be a part of the Indian team
However, new chairman of the selection committee, Sunil Joshi, comes forward with a different opinion. According to him, MS Dhoni needs to plays well at IPL 2020. Only then there is a possibility that he will be back in the Indian team.
As of now, the committee made their pick for the squad playing against South Africa. MS Dhoni wasn?t a part of it. Players such as Shikhar Dhawan, Hardik Pandya, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are a part of the squad. All of them have made comebacks after suffering through various injuries.
“It was a pretty straightforward selection meeting and since Dhoni was obviously not in the reckoning this time (for South Africa series), there was no formal talk about his future.?

Surprise inclusions to the T20 squad might be a part of the plan
The team?s representative makes it clear that if MS Dhoni puts up a good performance during the IPL, then he will definitely be taken into account. In fact, not only will his performance be priority but the performance of other old and new players will be too.
?He will be back in the reckoning only if he has a good IPL. And why only him, there are so many senior and young players who will play in the IPL. If they do well, they are ought to be considered too. So, you could see some surprise inclusions.?

Even head coach, Ravi Shastri, said similar words regarding Dhoni?s comeback.
It is hopeful that the selection committee will soon reveal the squad that will be playing in the T20 World Cup.
