A recent Reddit post about popular Xbox Game Studios developer inXile Entertainment has made the rounds of the rumor circles. The post suggests that the developers of the Wasteland franchise might be working on a Dune project. The developers have had a stellar background of creating RPG titles, and it’s a no-brainer that a Dune universe would be top-tier to experience.

Fans have had a lot of theories because of the developer’s Twitter account promoting the movie leading up to its release. The tweets from the account have referenced various elements of the book’s lore such as the all-important spice trade. However, it’s a meeting for the company chief, which has everyone believing that a game might be on the cards.

Recently a tweet from inExile founder Brian Fargo has added fuel to the fire about the rumors of the company working on a Dune game. The founder recently posted a photo with the director of Dune. No, it’s not Denis Villeneuve who made the 2021 Sci-Fi flick. Instead, he met visionary director David Lynch, who made the first movie adaptation of Dune back in 1984. With the developer posting hints through its Twitter account, it’s very unlikely for its top brass to accidentally meet someone who knows a thing or two about the book’s universe.

If the rumors are true, then fans will love to play an RPG title on the desert planet of Arrakis. It remains to be seen what the game might be about. However, with the amount of lore present in the books written by Frank Herbert, the developers at inExile can create one hell of a game that can drop the jaws of any fan.
