Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has seen plenty of roster shakeups in the last few months. The recent news that has broken the internet is of G2’s acquisition of Nikola “NiKo” Kovač. G2 and FaZe began talks in September this year, and the move has been under development ever since.

Niko spent over three years with FaZe and played a massive role in transforming the team into a title-winning lineup. Moreover, Niko’s signing from Mousesports to FaZe made it one of the heftiest signings in CS: GO history. So, it’s safe to assume that the move would’ve cost G2 a fortune.

Niko transitioned into an in-game leader (IGL) in the latter part of his career at FaZe. But his addition to the new and improved G2 lineup will see him revert to the role of a rifler that bagged him the title of one of the best players in the competitive scene.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive- Niko’s move to G2 marks brings OLOFMEISTER back in action

Rumors had surfaced over a potential move to G2 back in September. This speculation was fueled a few days back when images of Olof ‘olofmeister’ Kajbjer practicing with FaZe surfaced. This more or less confirmed the move, announced officially by both the organizations just a few hours back.

Niko shared a heartfelt message with the entire community, thanking them for the support they had showered during his tenure.

“With tears in my eyes, I have to say goodbye to everyone who was involved throughout my time in FaZe, all the players I played with, all the staff behind that was always there for me and all the fans that have supported us throughout this period.

There is no official announcement around which player Niko will replace in the active roster and join his cousin Nemanja “huNter” Kovač. Unless he replaces his casing, that is. It is possible that G2 might follow the footsteps of teams like Astralis and opt for an active six-man roster.

FaZe has also parted ways with coach Janko “YNk”Paunović who admitted to having failed in fixing the issues that were plaguing the team.

But G2 has made a monumental change in their roster with the signing of Niko. G2 will be looking forward to a change in fortunes after failing to meet expected standards in the last few months. Niko will make his debut on Monday in Group C of BLAST Premier Fall Series against FURIA.
