This year has had a very uncanny beginning to it. Stuck at home, we have looked forward to interesting updates this summer. One such event concluded today. The battle between Na`Vi’s roster of 2010 and their current roster. The roster of 2010 is venerated for their 2-0 victory over Fnatic to win the Intel Extreme Masters Season IV World Championship. To this day, it remains one of the most successful teams to have played Counter Strike Global Offensive. Most of them are now retired, and some are coaches. However, back in the day, they were absolute legends and remain the only team to have won three major CS tournaments in a single year.

‘Boomers vs Zoomers’

The two teams clashed in a series of 6 matches. 3 matches each were played in CS:GO and CS 1.6 respectively. The most awaited battle of the summer ended with the current roster taking an unassailable lead.  The odds were against them in CS 1.6. The roster of 2010 has spent years mastering CSGO’s predecessor inside out. The current squad is young and talented. It’s easy to assume that a team full of current players would beat the socks off the team in dotage. This wasn’t the case.

They lost the match at Train. They regrouped, discussed their strategy, and came back stronger in the next map, winning with a good margin. Both the teams displayed a flair of competition and managed to level the series at 1-1. Their final match was at Tuscan, which went into overtime. Na’Vi 2010 finished the match with a victory with the score reading 22-19. Na’Vi 2020 comfortably won all the three matches played in CS: GO, showing up in top form.

Counter Strike Global Offensive vs CS 1.6

The roster of 2020 won a tournament in May with a solid margin. They won the series 3-1. It was safe to assume that they would be able to replicate the success they achieved just over 3 months back. Na’Vi 2010 had a roster full of stars. They did manage to give the current generation of players a tough fight, letting them take only 14 wins across 3 maps in their own battlefield.

Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev and co. managed to secure the victory but the viewership numbers were a tad bit disappointing. The show match had a viewership of 111,424, which is quite less than the number they were expecting.

However, this is just another reminder that summer isn’t over yet and is full of surprises. We’ll keep you updated on any more exciting events coming up.
