Chelsea and Liverpool aren’t traditional rivals but in the recent years the matches have been quite a treat to watch for the neutrals. This rivalry of – sorts transpired whenever the forces of Benitez and Mourinho were pit against each other on the pitch. Tuesday’s match was no less than a war in itself.

With a place in the League Cup Final on the line and the first leg being tied at 1 – 1, both the teams were looking for no less than a win. Players exchanged words in fits of anger and frustration throughout the match but the one which caught the eye the most was that between Diego Costa and Emre Can.

Both the players were vying for the ball at the outside line just near Mourinho’s tactical area. When the ball was finally out of bounds Costa, in frustration, stepped on the foot of Can which led to all the players and Jose Mourinho engage in an exchange of words.

Diego Costa has been charged by the Football Association for violent misconduct and Costa has untill 6pm on Thursday 29 January 2015 to respond to the charge.

Jose Mourinho did not shy away from the media stating that Chelsea has , throughout the season, been targeted and that Costa’s actions were accidental and not intentional.
