Tony Hawk is one of the sport’s most influential entities. Famous for his unique skills and tricks, Hawk is the first skateboarder to complete the “900” trick. Popularly known as Birdman, the skater is also the owner of the company ‘Birdhouse.’
Given his legendary career and stature, one would expect Tony Hawk to be quite popular amongst the masses. However, so is not the case. In fact, Hawk often gets mistaken as someone else. Even though fans accept they are talking to someone famous, they refuse to believe that he is the real Tony Hawk himself.

As for Hawk, he finds these encounters hilarious and often takes to Twitter to share them with his fans.
You look like Tony Hawk!
Once again, the famous skater has taken to his Twitter account to narrate yet another infamous instance of ‘mistaken identity’. This time, Hawk was on his way to grab his morning coffee, where his barista thought he looked a lot like, well, Tony Hawk.
When asked if he gets mistaken for Hawk often, he sarcastically replied that it happens so regularly, that he even writes about it on Twitter. Till the end, the girl failed to realize that she was in conversation with the real Tony Hawk and not an impersonator.
At coffee shop this morning:
Girl behind counter: (not joking) “has anyone told you that you look like Tony Hawk?”
Me: yes, so much that I sometimes write about it.
Her: haha, here’s your coffee

Speaking about the infamous situations he gets caught in, Hawk said, “I think sometimes people, I assume, get excited, and they’re trying to register it… so they’ll just sort of say things without really giving them critical thought.”
Are you for real?
In yet another incident, Hawk was at a skatepark, where a kid could not believe he was skating next to his idol. Notably, even though the toddler recognized Hawk, he couldn’t believe his fate.

Kid at skatepark:
“Are you Tony Hawk?”
me: I am
him: “no you’re not”
me: ok, I’m not
him: “but are you, FOR REAL?”
me: I am, for real
him: I thought you’d look younger
me: ME TOO— Tony Hawk (@tonyhawk) July 29, 2019
However, the two found a common ground that they agreed upon. When the kid that, “I thought you’d look younger,” Hawk jokingly replied, “ME TOO.”
