While the Chiefs Kingdom basks in the glitz and glamor of Patrick Mahomes led-Kansas City Chiefs‘ ring ceremony, some eagle-eyed fans spotted something interesting. This year’s Super Bowl ring is encrusted with 529 diamonds and 38 rubies, along with custom details. However, it seems that one of those details might have a typo!

The Chiefs flaunted the luxurious ring’s design on their official Instagram page. On the inside of the ring, the team’s playoff wins are engraved along with their winning scores. Here is where the error creeps in. For their win last season, the Miami Dolphins were given the 7th seed, whereas, in actuality, they held the 6th seed. It was the Pittsburgh Steelers who held the seventh spot in the 2023 season.

Whereas the typo is visible in the reference picture, it cannot be confirmed whether the real rings also contain it. According to PFT’s Mike Florio, they do. The NFL analyst confirmed that at least one ring bears the incorrect information, which opens the possibility of all the rings having the typo.

Worth millions per set. The Super Bowl rings are an irreplaceable piece of memorabilia for a player. While having an error in the whole batch can be a pretty big deal, this typo is on the inside of the ring and can be overlooked. And when you have glittering emeralds and diamonds set in intricate detail on the front, who would even bother about one tiny mistake? There’s one player who especially isn’t likely to be bothered by the error: one whose name is set in gold!

Patrick Mahomes’ name and Reid’s play on the SB ring

Every year, a lot of time and effort goes into designing the luxurious ring for the championship winners. The number of jewels and their orientation all bear special significance to the ruling team of that year. This year was no different!

Kansas City received a gorgeous red, silver, and golden-colored ring with four marquise diamonds representing the four franchise titles behind the team’s logo. The sides were no less detailed and bear the name of the three-time MVP in all-caps. The ring reads ‘Mahomes’ on one side and ‘Back to Back’ on another to signify their consecutive triumphs.

The most striking feature of the ring is under the flap to commemorate the Chiefs’ game-winning Tom and Jerry play. Andy Reid’s spin on the offensive play, Corndog successfully hoodwinked the 49ers defense, cementing their victory. A hand-drawn sketch encapsulates this iconic moment under the top flap.
