That’s the Chen to the Barbie.” Chennedy Carter has found herself right in the middle of the Angel Reese vs Caitlin Clark rivalry. Thanks to her now infamous body check on Clark, Carter made headlines during the Chicago Sky’s first matchup with the Indiana Fever this season. Reese gleefully applauded it and the relationship between the two teammates has since taken off. While many fans and analysts continue to plead with Clark’s teammates to back her up during confrontations on the court, Reese doesn’t have that problem. While the Bayou Barbie had a career night in Chicago’s win over Indiana today, Carter was not far behind.

On Sunday, Carter had one of her best performances of the season. The 25-year-old scored 23 points on 67% efficiency along with 5 assists in her 29 minutes on the floor. She brilliantly backed up her rookie teammate, who had a career-high 25 points to go along with 16 rebounds. On the other side, Clark had 17 points and 13 assists in Indiana’s 87-88 loss against Chicago. It wasn’t just the stat sheet where the Sky duo outperformed the Fever rookie, though.

During the game, Carter scored a smooth mid-range jumper over Clark on one end, and Sky guard, Diamond DeShields, blocked the NCAA D1 all-time leading scorer’s layup on the other end, prompting celebrations on the bench. Chicago fans were pleased to see an all-around display by their team, who entered the contest after losing 6 out of their last 8 games. Moreover, it was the budding chemistry between Carter and Reese that caught everyone’s attention.

That’s the Chen to the Barbie. I love Chennedy so much. She brings so much energy. She’s probably the fastest player I’ve ever played with in the league… we have similar stories, we’ve been through a lot of things. We understand each other… so that’s awesome,” Reese had stated during the pre-game interview.

Chennedy Carter gets All-Star shouts after another excellent outing

Fans were all praise for the Texas A&M alumna after she added to her string of impressive performances. “Why is Chennedy Carter not on the all-star top 25 list? She’s one of the best players this season. She’s been on my list every single day,” one user came forward to praise Carter and wanted her to be on the top 25 list. Carter has performed exceptionally well this season whenever the situation has demanded. She averages a decent 13.7 points with 2.4 assists per contest.

“Can we PLEASE put Celeste Taylor in with the one job of sticking to Chennedy Carter and shutting her down?” another fan mentioned. This fan of the Fever was recommending that since Carter was performing exceptionally well, Indiana needed better defensive effort to stop her. And who better than Celeste Taylor for this role?

“Chennedy Carter outscoring the “generational prospect”, another fan commented. The user was pointing to the fact while Carter had scored 18 points up until then, Clark had only scored 11. The game ended with Carter scoring 23 and Clark only managing 17.

“This all day! That’s why the NEVER let CC guard Carter!!!,” Another fan stated that Clark shouldn’t be guarding Carter since the latter usually gets the better of Clark, who struggles on the defensive side of things. Though Clark is 6 feet and Carter is just 5 feet 9 inches, still it looks as if Carter is more dominating due to her strength and physicality.

“Chennedy Carter demanding the 🏀 in the mid post area against Caitlin Clark, then proceeds to go to work! She’s an absolute bucket getter‼️” another user stated. The fan was pointing out the fact that Carter looked a better scorer in this game as compared to Clark.

Perhaps, for Carter and Chicago’s fans, she will keep scoring and winning games for her team just like she proactively contributed in this game.
