Last night, Denny Hamlin fought off a late charge from Chase Elliott to record his third win of this season. The NASCAR Cup Series race at Miami was interrupted multiple times by bad weather.
In the last stage, Chase Elliott was closing in on Hamlin but Hamlin continued his lead after Elliott’s one lap undercut. After that, Hamlin was able to fend off challenges from Elliott, Blaney, and Reddick. Elliott himself was facing a lot of pressure from Ryan Blaney in the final stages. However, Chase was able to defend Blaney’s moves and he had to settle for the third place.
NASCAR posted a video of the pass that ensured Danny Hamlin’s win. They wrote, “One of the key moments from Sunday’s race.”

Bad Weather played spoilsport to Chase Elliott and others
After 5 laps, The race was paused for two hours because of the bad weather. After that, lightning strikes caused an hour’s delay. Thunderstorm and lightning in the region forced NASCAR to delay the race by a few hours.

A small ‘barrier tap’ from Elliott gave Danny the chance to take his third win of the season. Additionally, it was his 40th career win and third win at Homestead-Miami.
Kyle Busch yet to achieve a Cup Series win in 2020
NASCAR Cup Series star Kyle Busch failed to convert his good start into a race win for the second time in the last few weeks. He is yet to take a single Cup Series victory in 2020 for his Joe Gibbs Racing team.

Additionally, Aric Almirola has an impressive run and finally scored his first ‘top five’ finish of the season. NASCAR Cup Series rookie Tyler Reddick displayed some excellent moves and was running for the lead in the early stages of the race. He finished the race in fourth place.
