Cyberpunk 2077 release was probably the biggest video game mishap that the gaming industry has ever seen. Some believe that the developer CD Projekt RED (CDPR) should have postponed the release and at least delivered a playable product. They unknowingly filled the first version of the game with bugs and mission glitches. That combined with the frame drop and lag made the publishers take a tough decision.

Within weeks, CDPR had restricted the offline and online sale of the game. Conditions were so bad that they provided a full refund to customers from all retailers. The studio is working on fixing the game. They promised a complete revamp during the first half of 2021. Patch 1.2 announced a few weeks back fixed hundreds of issues in the game, both gameplay, and system-wise.

Last week, a Cyberpunk 2077 Redditor PricklyAssassin posted his findings of 10 hidden Cyberpunk 2077 files on the Epic Games store. He discovered 18 free DLCs on the page back in February. However, last week, the studio removed 8 titles and added 3 paid ones. Undoubtedly, fans were excited about the leaks. But CD Projekt cleared the air but adding an uncanny twist to the story.

If not Cyberpunk 2077 DLCs, then what?

The community mods of the subreddit later removed the original leak post. But the leaker attached the updates here. The post comprised proofs of the free DLCs with screenshots from the Epic Games Store, which now the publisher removed.

After the news of the leaked DLCs spread like wildfire, a CD Projekt representative allegedly in an email to IGN classified it as false information. He/she informed that they “are not DLCs for Cyberpunk 2077.” However, that brings up the question, if not DLCs, then what? We listed the titles of the alleged free DLCs below.

  • Ripperdocs Expansion
  • Body Shops Expansion
  • Fashion Forward Expansion
  • Gangs of Night City
  • Body of Chrome
  • Rides of the Dark Future
  • The Relic
  • Neck Deep
  • Night City Expansion

The studio on multiple occasions has misrepresented facts to the audience and fans. As pointed out by Forbes, the recent Patch 1.2 brought a few changes that directly hint at a connection with the leaked names. The most prominent one being ‘The Relic’. The attributes that show the character’s physical and psychological statistics had one spot empty. Now a “Relic” logo fills up a spot.

Similarly, the studio can simply rename the generic content like Ripperdocs Expansion and Body Shop Expansion and release it as new DLCs, not connected to the leaks. Them denying the content to be anything other than leaks simply raises more disputes and makes fans question the studio’s authenticity. Let’s not forget almost every rumor CDPR has been defensive against, had some truth hidden in it. Assuming the leaked content is not new DLCs, what do you think they are?
