It is quite common to hear people ask UFC fighters who their favorite WWE stars are and vice versa. This is especially true after UFC and WWE merged to come under one banner, TKO Holdings. Recently, UFC legend Daniel Cormier was asked this question, and his answer has stunned WWE fans. Despite having stars like Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns as champions, the UFC legend picked someone no one could think of.

The UFC star also placed this wrestler over WWE legends like the Hall of Famer Randy Savage.

Daniel Cormier’s favorite wrestler is the Intercontinental Champion

Cormier is a legend in the UFC. Not only that, but he was a six-time US World or Olympic Team Member. He was also a World bronze medalist, a World Cup runner-up, and a Pan American Games gold medalist. With all these accolades, he’s respected in the world of combat sports.

While on the MMA Hour, UFC legend and former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier talked about the WWE. During the show, he was asked who his favorite WWE star was, and his answer was anything but ordinary. This wrestler could be heading to face Brock Lesnar when he returns to the WWE.

Cormier said, “He’s my favorite wrestler of all time…he has surpassed the Macho Man. I love Seth, but Gunther does it all.” He also went on to explain why this was the case. He compared Gunther’s in-ring move set to that of Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks.

He explained, “Because they were doing too many flips, too many flips, like it really p****d me off all the flips.” Cormier said he loved Gunther’s body slam, and sleeper holds. Prior to this, he also explained he loved bigger wrestlers as compared to smaller, slimmer ones.

So what’s next in line for the Intercontinental champion as he continues to enhance his legacy in the WWE and amasses fans worldwide.

Gunther’s incredible run could face Brock Lesnar

After beating Ricochet on SmackDown on June 10, 2022, Gunther won the Intercontinental Championship. Since then, he’s been the champion for a 537+ day reign. This is the longest in the title’s history in the WWE.

While on the Under the Ring podcast, Gunther mentioned, “You never really know what you get with Brock, I would say, but it’s definitely a match I want to have, I want to do.” This got fans excited, and they look forward to the WWE planning something next year during the Mania season when Lesnar is suspected of returning.
