In the episode Bisping: Five WWE Wrestlers Who Fought – For Real – In UFC/MMA, Bisping touched upon the subject of WWE wrestlers who tried their hands at MMA or UFC. The list included names like Ken Shamrock, Brock Lesnar, and CM Punk.?

In Punk’s segment, he began with the buzz Punk created when he announced his move to the UFC. Being one of the hottest WWE stars to move to MMA, fans were excited. He also addressed that Punk was a professional wrestler in his mid-30s. Bisping said, “He’ll be learning how to strike wrestle and learn some submissions from absolute scratch.” This was in the context of Punk needing to learn the basics of MMA before setting foot in the ring. However, he did acknowledge Punk was prone to injuries.

During his time in the WWE, Punk suffered a fractured skull, hip injury, torn Meniscus, broken ribs, and a broken foot.

Punk was known in the WWE as a trash-talking, anti-authority figure. However, Punk did not join the UFC; Phil Brooks did. Using his real name Punk did not bring over his trash-talking attitude. According to Bisping, this was because Punk knew he did not have what the others did, the knowledge of MMA. Mickey Gall made Punk submit in just two minutes during his first match.

The second match would see Mike Jackson vs Punk. Despite losing again, the match would be declared a no-contest after Jackson was caught on substances during the fight.?
