WWE is one of the leading sports entertainment companies in the world. People all over the world are synonymous with the company and its superstars. One of the leading names in the world of combat sports, WWE often faces competition from AEW and UFC.

UFC is a MMA combat sport and is often watched by niche viewers, whereas WWE has been in the market long enough to be known by everybody. The 1980s saw Vince McMahon taking over the company and turning into a national promotion from a regional one.

Recently, a 57-year-old wrestling veteran made a comment on UFC and its fighters by comparing them directly to WWE Superstars, both and mid-card main-eventers. Although, veteran Paul Heyman clarified that there stand a few exceptions in his comparison. Heyman is currently paired with Roman Reigns since the pandemic. And The Bloodline is one of the biggest factions currently.

During an interview with Ryan Satin, Heyman would speak on different topics. However, he stirred controversy when he took a major dig at UFC fighters’ popularity in foreign countries. And compared it directly with mid-card WWE superstars.

What did Paul Heyman say about UFC fighters during his statement on their popularity?

Wrestling veteran Paul Heyman has been in the industry long enough to know its ins and outs. Heyman is also aware of how a business operates, and how much popularity each entity has. This caused Heyman to make a statement about the fighters.

The 57-year-old said, “With very few exceptions. Take any UFC major star and walk them down the street in some foreign countries nobody will know who they are. Take a mid-card WWE star and walk them down the street in any foreign country and they’re gonna get mobbed like Justin Bieber.

Heyman would further discuss the distribution length of the product. And how much it has progressed over the years from the transformative years in the 1980s. He would also bring up ‘Attitude Era’ and how it changed the entire dynamic of the industry. The 57-year-old said, “The distribution of this product is insane but that was you know, the 80, 84, 85, the transformative years of the industry where you know Vince took it National and competed with everybody.

Heyman said, “the attitude era completely changed the dynamic of the entire presentation of the industry.” Sports entertainment becoming a dominant television commodity.” WWE has come a long way from where it began, and is one of the leading companies in the pro wrestling industry.
