WWE and UFC, two combat sports powerhouses, officially formed the ultimate team following a merger with Endeavor to create TKO. Combined, the UFC and WWE reach more than a billion fans worldwide. And collaboration between the two after the merger has become more possible than ever. WWE superstar Cody Rhodes also believes that there could be a crossover between the two companies.

There has been a dividing line between MMA and professional wrestling fans throughout history. However, both organizations could initiate collaborative efforts to boost the benefits accrued by the respective fandoms. In a recent interview with ESPN, the interviewer asked The American Nightmare who could emerge as a viable option to jump ship from the UFC. Rhodes highlighted the prevailing hesitation from UFC fans about being associated with the WWE. However, he cited examples of successful talents who crossed over successfully despite the stigma to denounce the notion. Furthermore, the 2023 Royal Rumble winner named a UFC superstar who could successfully maneuver his name through both worlds.

Cody Rhodes highlighted the fact that there have been successful talents who have made the jump and made a name for themselves. He cited Ronda Rousey as an example. “Ronda was a great example. Uh, I feel like people don’t give Ronda enough credit for getting… I mean, the first women’s WrestleMania main event, Ronda’s a huge part of ushering all that in.” He later mentioned UFC star Conor McGregor as the ideal candidate to transition to the WWE. He said, “I think the most obvious is to say Conor McGregor. Um, I think he’s got plenty of fights left in him though.”

MMA fighters are not unfamiliar with fighters from the WWE, and vice versa. It seems like both sides are constantly watching each other. And it has also become somewhat normalized if they try to cross paths from time to time. Pro-wrestling has seen several great MMA stars step into the ring: Dan Severn, Ken Shamrock, Ronda Rousey, King Mo, Matt Riddle, and Shayna Baszler, among others. Several pro wrestlers who have tried their hand at MMA include Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, and Bobby Lashley.

So it wouldn’t be shocking to see if McGregor makes his way to the ring after hanging up his MMA gloves. Other MMA fighters, such as Israel Adesanya, have expressed their interest in joining the WWE and dabbling their feet in pro wrestling after ending their MMA careers. What do you think?
