The supremacy of Welterweight Champion Leon Edwards over Colby Covington was witnessed at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. He did, in fact, succeed in keeping his title thanks to several training sessions and a proactive mindset.

With that, his reign as a UFC champion is still alive. But amidst all the hail and praise, he highlighted how hard work pays off in real life. Most importantly, he gave the example of the icon of motivation, Dwyane Johnson.

‘The Rock’ recently posted a video of the triumphant Birmingham native through his Instagram handle. It seems as if he wanted to give another example of how hustling helps a man who has a motive in his life. Surprisingly, the video also highlighted Johnson’s example in it. Well, Edwards first highlighted how diligence reaps rewards regardless of any field. But then he gave the example of Johnson.

He said, “It goes back to what The Rock said, the hardest worker in the room, everyone thinks you just woke up one morning and you are successful. If you just post on social media you have to put the time in dedicate yourself and work hard and then the dream will be yours.”

Indeed, it was apparent that Edwards uttered facts and Johnson wanted to set an example for all his fans around the globe. We just have to focus on our goal and ignore other negative aspects. Moreover, with this approach he was able to win a huge main event bout at UFC 296.

Edwards was unanimously able to outpoint Colby Covington at UFC 296 as he successfully defended his welterweight title Saturday night. It was a highly anticipated battle as many believed that Covington would win the undisputed strap for the first time in his career, but it was Edwards who had a last laugh.

Every time Covington took swings for a takedown, Edwards preferred to grapple and counter instead of utilizing his talents as a striker on the move. The feud even went on personal grounds after the controversial comments of Covington about the latter’s father. However, fate only had to favor ‘Rocky’. Now, Edwards is still our welterweight champ and we have to see if any fighters give him a tough time in the future. But for now, Johnson kept him motivated as he stood triumphant. Do you agree?
