Dwayne Johnson is a high-flyer in terms of business. Any endeavor he undertakes is poised for success, thanks to the dedicated team he assembles and their strong work ethic. According to a recent report, Johnson and his production team are seemingly angling to produce a documentary on a debt-ridden soccer club.

The club in question is none other than Southend United F.C. That said, the club owner, Ron Martin, recently addressed Dwayne Johnson’s rumored interest in acquiring Southend United F.C.

The Shrimpers have been up for sale since March. Furthermore, reports had surfaced that Hollywood figures like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and actor Ray Winstone could capture a documentary about the club. However, no deal has materialized yet as the club faces serious financial troubles. Moreover, the club has been given an extension to pay off its current debt of $3,45,977.22, the failure of which can result in its closure.

While speaking with talkSPORT, club owner Ron Martin relayed that they had a deal with a company named Kimure. However, the company “wanted to replicate” a Wrexham-esque documentary.  He said, “They had Ray Winston and also The Rock, they told us, in a frame to be heading it up. “I’m not sure if The Rock was ever there, but Ray Winstone appeared to be, but when he pulled out because he was conflicted because he’s got an interest in a football agency, the deal fell apart.”

As noted, Ray Winstone has withdrawn himself from the deal. However, the prospect of Dwayne Johnson going ahead with it still stands. Furthermore, Ron Martin, who has faced criticism from fans for the delayed sale, insisted that the fault doesn’t lie with him. He added, “Rubbish, absolute rubbish, it’s just complete nonsense.”  as he responded to the fans’ criticism.

He also relayed that a potential buyer from Australia is “in talks” about buying the club. Martin also denied the accusations against him about buying real estate instead of paying the tax debt.

Overall, Martin expressed his desire to save the club but noted that he has financial constraints. On the other hand, Dwayne Johnson is no stranger to turning around the fortunes of a sports institution.
