But, the Portuguese football legend surprised everyone by announcing that he will not miss the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Moreover, this news came in with an added bonus of a potential appearance at the WWE Crown Jewel 2023 event.

While this had skyrocketed the happiness of Ronaldo fans from the WWE Universe, recent news crushed their dreams. A social media post revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo can’t come to the WWE Crown Jewel due to an unexpected development.

WWE has been a part of several high-profile deals for quite some time. It initially struck a deal with Saudi Arabia for a bigger fanfare and allure. This was followed by the takeover of the company by Endeavor, the owner of UFC. The next big move on the chessboard was to unite WWE with the most popular man currently in Saudi Arabia: Cristiano Ronaldo.

While everyone rejoiced at Ronaldo’s postponing his retirement, this news added another goal to increase fans’ happiness by 2-0.

However, the referee has ruled the latest goal as an offside kick, and an unexpected development will now change things. According to WWE insider BWE,

Ronaldo’s involvement was discussed but there is little chance of him making an appearance. BWE tweeted a reply to a fan’s question, writing, “It was discussed for a long while. Got disapproved.”

The news has left a deafening silence in the camp of the WWE Universe who were really looking forward to it. This is the second major blow for the WWE Universe who were previously excited for a CM Punk return too.

Ever since CM Punk was released from Tony Khan’s AEW, the WWE Universe was excited about his potential WWE return. However, WWE may not be eager to sign the star who walked out in 2014 will not be signed once again

The unavailability of Cristiano Ronaldo at WWE Crown Jewel 2023 just added to that initial disappointment. However, Meltzer also noted that the world of WWE doesn’t have permanent exits, implying that there will always be a possibility for Punk’s return, much like the situation with Cristiano Ronaldo.
