The last few weeks have been tough for Ronda Rousey. Her once best friend shockingly turned on her, costing the Women’s Tag Team belt at Money In The Bank PLE. Since then, Rousey and Shayna Baszler have been at loggerheads. The two have managed to get physical on ensuing episodes of RAW, with Baszler having the last say.

However, on the July 17th episode of the red brand, Rousey used one of her less acclaimed skills to score a point over the 42-year-old. Rousey’s work on the microphone has been a subject of criticism in the WWE, but she managed to use it well during the aforementioned exchange with her UFC protege.

The 36-year-old was present at the State Farm Arena in Georgia as a spectator. She also used the opportunity to get even with Baszler, who attacked her from behind, paving the way for the tag team of Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez to win the championship from them.

Rousey called herself the “greatest combat sports athlete of all time”. She told her former best friend, “You’re just a knock off version of me.”

The comments from the former UFC champion weren’t well received by the spectators, who booed her continuously. In her retort, Baszler said she wants the ex-SmackDown champion to settle the score instantly.

Snubbing the demand, Rousey said they’ll lock horns at SummerSlam, terming it as another favor that she would do for Baszler. “You know what Shayna, I’m actually going to do you a favor like I’ve your entire career, I’m finally going to get you booked on SummerSlam. You, me, I’ll see you in Motor City, b**ch,” she said.

Meanwhile, the match at SummerSlam could be Rousey’s last in WWE.

Is Ronda Rousey set to win SummerSlam PLE against her UFC protege?

After a hiatus of nearly three years, Rousey returned to WWE at Royal Rumble 2022, marking her second stint. However, this run is also set to end soon. According to reports, the 36-year-old has given the Stamford-based promotion a ‘hard-out’ date, meaning she wouldn’t appear after the deadline.

This makes her SummerSlam match more interesting, as fans wait to see who wins the battle as the two former UFC stars lock horns for one last time.

While they have agreed to have a match at the PLE, the stipulation for it hasn’t been announced yet. Since it is reportedly Rousey’s last bout in her current run, it could be an I quit match, with her losing and leaving the promotion.

Putting Baszler over also makes sense as she is set to stay in WWE for now. The win will also bring an end to their ongoing dispute and settle the score. These are, however, speculations and one will have to wait for the future to witness how things turn out in reality.

Apart from that, Rousey hasn’t been a crowd favorite either. Her take on pro wrestling a few years ago was met with criticism from the WWE Universe. Maybe a break will mend that tie.
