WWE looks to implement some massive changes, courtesy of its merger with UFC to form ‘TKO’. Not just management, but it looks like the commercial aspects of the wrestling company could also undergo some fresh changes. With Vince McMahon‘s reduced influence on the company, Nick Khan has seemingly introduced a new idea that is so far on board with the TKO board.

What change has WWE undertaken now?

Recent reports suggest that fans should expect some slight changes to the appearance of WWE’s ring and ringside. This majorly includes commercial advertisements that WWE hadn’t included all this while. The primary reason for the same seems to be more revenue generation.

According to Dave Meltzer of WON, “In the past, Vince McMahon was a proponent of a clean ring, meaning no advertising on the mats, the barricades, or around the ring. Obviously, that has changed due to the influence of Nick Khan.” The industry insider added, “The ring will be opening up more advertising inventory and they are very happy McMahon agreed to it.

It is possible, however, that the advertisements in itself compliment WWE in some way. For example, the marketing team for the dystopian futuristic video game ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ partnered with WWE to advertise their latest update at Fastlane ’23 while also enhancing the company’s branding visual for the PLE.

With Endeavor’s supremacy presiding over the McMahon family, there are more than one change stored for WWE’s future in which Vince or his associates may not get a veto option. One such example could be the reports suggesting a change in WWE’s tradition of holding SmackDown on Fridays.

The blue brand has been airing for more than two decades now. Vince McMahon had set the tradition of letting the show sink in with fans’ schedule by airing it on Friday every week. Now that the former CEO of WWE is no longer in complete power of such decisions, Endeavor is reportedly wanting to shift the day of the week they will air this show.

This is particularly because TKO has to make room for UFC on Saturdays, meaning the PLEs held by WWE would have to find a new day too. So, the closest day the PLEs might get rescheduled to is Fridays, by moving SD to a day earlier in the week.
