The season of injuries for the WWE seems to be here. There have already been quite a few names on the long list of injured superstars in the promotion, and tonight’s edition of SmackDown witnessed two more new names being added.

Austin Theory and Carmelo Hayes squared off in the ring in what was supposed to be a detrimental match towards Hayes’ road to the Royal Rumble. However, the match ended via a referee stoppage, and the WWE has come out with an update on the two.

WWE has taken to Twitter and shared an update on the two injured superstars. And it seems like the prayers of the fans have been answered, as the two seem to be okay and have only suffered facial contusions.

“UPDATE: Following their match tonight on #SmackDown, @_Theory1 and  @Carmelo_WWE were evaluated for injuries. They both suffered face contusions, and will both be okay.”

Midway through the high-flying spectacle, Hayes was in a seated position atop the corner, a spot which was supposed to be a half-seated Spanish fly as Theory charged toward him. However, it was botched and the back of Hayes’ head appeared to land on Theory’s forehead as they reached the mat, forcing the referee to give the doomed X sign, declaring it a draw.
