Last year, John Cena returned to WWE for a memorable run during the SAG strike, culminating in a singles loss to Solo Sikoa at WWE Crown Jewel in November. Not long after the strike ended, Cena left once again and returned to his main career in Hollywood. However, according to reports, a Cena appearance at WWE WrestleMania 40 is not out of the question.
But what role would he play at WrestleMania? Well, legendary manager and pro wrestling pundit Eric Bischoff has some theories on how he would use the 16x World Champion.

In the latest edition of his ’83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff’ podcast, Eric Bischoff shared his thoughts on how the WWE could or should utilize the leader of the Cenation. According to Bischoff, it would depend upon whether John Cena will be available on a semi-regular basis or if this will be just a one-off. Sharing his thoughts on both situations, he said, “I’d probably involve him in an angle somehow making an example… you know making a save. Integrating John at some point. When you least expect him or a baby face needs some support. And let him have that moment. Let him share that reaction to the crowd.”

He further added, “On a regular basis or even a semi-regular basis once a month, once every two months, that’s different. Then maybe you can create some kind of an ongoing relationship with the talent. But I would imagine this is a one-off.”
While nothing has been signed so far, it is reported that there are hopes within WWE that Cena will be able to appear. However, filming for the second season of ‘Peacemaker’ will begin soon. So even if Cena has something to do at WrestleMania, it’s unlikely to be something that could risk him getting injured. Whether or not Cena is on the show depends on his acting schedule. If WWE gets a chance to use Cena, the newsletter states that they want to do something “fun, short and memorable”. But at the same time offer some substance for the audience.
