Vince McMahon is one of the most ruthless people in the pro wrestling business. His creative thinking and foresight have made WWE one of the biggest sports entertainment brands in the world today. And this did not just happen overnight. It took over 40 years. During this course of time, McMahon has created many wrestling superstars.

One such Hall Of Famer recently spoke about his experience while working under McMahon.

Edge considered Vince McMahon as the ‘be-all and end-all’ of the WWE

The Rated R Superstar made his WWE debut in 1998 on RAW. Edge was signed to the WWE by Jim Ross for which he even publicly thanked him sometime back on AEW’s Collision. This was the time of the Attitude Era when Vince McMahon was calling the creative shots in the WWE.

Edge then went on to have a glorious career winning multiple championships in the WWE. He put a sudden halt to his WWE career as a neck injury forced him to retire from pro wrestling in 2011. He then relinquished the World Heavyweight Championship and thanked all the fans for their love and support.

In 2012, Edge entered the Hall Of Fame, and post that he continued making sporadic appearances in the WWE till 2019. Then in 2020, he entered the Men’s Royal Rumble match at the number 21 spot, thus coming out of his 9-year retirement. In 2022, Vince McMahon announced his retirement from the WWE following the sexual misconduct allegations against him.

This gave most of the creative control in the hands of McMahon’s son-in-law Triple H. On an appearance on Chris Jericho’s podcast Talk Is Jericho, Edge talked about the difference in the new era. He said, “It was odd, you know, because that’s all I knew there right? And even in terms of me coming in and out, I missed a lot of things, so when I came back I was like ‘Oh this is happening now’. And just trying to wrap my mind around”.

Currently, McMahon serves as the Executive Chairman at TKO Group Holdings. Edge also undertakes a new chapter in his pro wrestling career as he has bid goodbye to WWE and moved to AEW. The Florida-based promotion needed the injection of the new star as another top draw across pro wrestling left the company in the recent past. This gave birth to the rumors that a return to WWE could be on the cards for the 44-year-old star.

CM Punk will not be returning to the WWE thanks to Vince Mcmahon’s decision

Over the past few months, there have been multiple speculations that CM Punk would make a return to the WWE at Survivor Series. The PLE is also taking place in Chicago, which happens to be the hometown of Punk. Thus giving fans an added reason to speculate about his return.

Sadly, this will not be the case as the WWE has rejected the prospect of Punk’s return. According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, Vince McMahon made the final decision of not taking Punk back into the WWE. According to Meltzer, “the negatives outweighed the positives”.

Meltzer was also hopeful that the WWE could always change their decision later. But for now, a new dawn won’t rise for CM Punk in WWE. Nick Khan and Triple H could perhaps revisit the prospect in the future. One thing is for sure. WWE could use another top draw in the form of the Chicago native after Edge left the promotion.
