Last year in July, Vince McMahon found himself in a puddle of accusations involving misconduct and hush money. Hoping that the dust storm would settle down soon, he relinquished his position and went on a hiatus.

When he stepped down, he put the creative reins in the hands of Triple H, who has done a commendable job since then. As a matter of fact, the latest report claims that the current Creative Head of WWE has catapulted the promotion into new soaring heights in the last year.

On the morning of August 2, WWE released its 2023 second-quarter results on its official website. The reports mention that the revenue reached a quarterly record of $410.3 million, showing a 25% increase. Each WWE premium live event set global unique viewership records.

Not only that, RAW and SmackDown also saw an increase of 19% and 26% in viewership, respectively, in the 18-49 demographic scale. During the prior year period, there was a notable increase in Live Events revenue, which grew by 51%.

This surge is an indication of the sustained and robust demand for both domestic and international events.

Is Vince McMahon headed for a hiatus again?

In the report, WWE mentioned that for its fourth quarter of 2022 and for the entire year of 2022, the revenue was $325.3 million and $1.3 billion, respectively. All this happened under Triple H’s leadership and without Vince McMahon’s interference, despite still being a presence in the promotion and fears among fans that he may be running creative. But that scenario might be about to change again.

McMahon returned to WWE as executive chairman of the company in January. But he still doesn’t have any say in the creative decisions. Currently, he is on medical leave because of his spinal surgery. But with his past still looming on his head as a threat, his future is looking dubious.

On July 17, federal law enforcement agents served McMahon with a federal grand jury subpoena and search warrant related to his misconduct allegations investigations of last year. Commenting on it, WWE has released a statement saying that the company understands and respects court orders and will fully cooperate with them.

Also, McMahon agreed to give his cooperation to the court and is confident that the issue will get resolved soon, as he believes he is ill-charged for all the wrongdoings. This could mean him taking another hiatus from the promotion. But for WWE fans it seems the company is in safe hands with Triple H running things.
