Speculation surrounds Sasha Banks as her NJPW contract nears expiration. Now, all eyes are on the Royal Rumble on January 27, anticipating her potential return to the promotion. To add to the curiosity, WWE’s subtle teasers echo the strategy used prior to CM Punk‘s comeback last year. This is similar to CM Punk’s situation, wherein just before his return, the WWE UK store had Punk t-shirts for sale, only to remove them later. It’s worth noting that at that time, there were declarations that Punk would never return to WWE.

Recently WWE hinted at Mercedes Mone‘s potential return by making her music, titled Sky’s the Limit available on Spotify, even though it has not been officially released. This departure from the usual practice of removing former WWE stars’ music upon their exit has sparked speculation. However, even the ‘Cookie Master’ dropped a few bits about this.

Sasha Banks and Naomi were the reigning WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions at the time and when things went away for all parties involved, they both exited WWE simultaneously during a live Raw show on May 17, 2022. Initially, they were scheduled to compete in a six-pack challenge to determine Bianca Belair’s opponent for the Raw Women’s Championship at Hell in a Cell.

Instead, the match was changed to a singles bout between Becky Lynch and Asuka, and the Raw commentary team labeled Sasha and Naomi as “unprofessional” for walking out before the show. However, changes in WWE management have opened the door for potential returns. Banks fulfilled her dream of wrestling in Japan and has been linked to a possible move to AEW, aiming to strengthen its women’s division.

While AEW is a possibility, WWE seems like the better choice, given AEW’s historical neglect of its women’s division. But a return to WWE is not guaranteed, until Banks appears in AEW, the possibility of a triumphant return to WWE remains open. Did you know CM Punk also recently hinted at her WWE return?

CM Punk “caught” Sasha Banks and Bayley

Punk recently posted a picture on his Instagram story featuring Banks and Bayley wearing shades and hoodies, playfully suggesting they were “hooligans” stealing catalytic converters in his neighborhood. Despite the jest, it’s essential to remember Punk’s penchant for teasing returns.
