This year, the Tribal Chief will main-event his eighth WrestleMania. Up until now, he was at par with WWE’s COO Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque with 7 main events. With WrestleMania 40, he will tie his record with Hulk Hogan, who has the most number of WrestleMania main events, which is 8.
Reigns has had a pretty exemplary run in the last decade. His first WrestleMania main event was back in 2015. He fought against Brock Lesnar at the WrestleMania 31 for the WWE World Heavyweight title. After that, he had three consecutive main events at WrestleMania 32, 33, & 34. He had fought Triple H at 32, The Undertaker at 33, and Brock Lesnar at 34.
Following that, he had his main event moment at WrestleMania 37 against Edge and Daniel Bryan, 38 against Brock Lesnar, and 39 against Cody Rhodes. With WrestleMania 40 he will be facing Rhodes for the second time consecutively.
The Road to WrestleMania 40 has been a controversial one. While many believe that this might be the end of the road for Reigns, WWE might want him to break Hogan’s record before he leaves.
Will the Tribal Chief have two main events?
The word around the town is that Dwayne Johnson has stated that he will main-event WrestleMania 40 no matter what. However, due to the backlash faced by the fans, WWE might have decided to change this plan. It has been rumored that Johnson will still main event WrestleMania 40, however, it might be a tag team match. The chances of Roman Reigns and The Rock facing Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40 are at an all-time high.

While there is no word whether it will be on Night 1 or Night 2, one thing is for sure, it will be a main event. The reason behind the tag team match is stated to be Rollins’s back condition and that it would be easy for Johnson since he has been out of action for a very long time.
