AEW Dynamite took a dramatic turn when Ric Flair appeared out of nowhere to heap congratulations on his long-time rival from the WCW days, Sting for how far he has come in his career. While there were wide rumors on what could be Khan’s promised surprise to the prized AEW veteran before his retirement at AEW Revolution, nobody could guess Flair’s debut as an option.

Khan not only surprised The Icon but also knocked down all the fans with a feather by bringing Flair into the AEW scene last night. With the shocking event, the immediate question that popped in was what could be Flair’s future move in Khan’s promotion? The answer that Sting provided, however, failed to please fans.

Although Flair’s arrival in the AEW looked absurd to some extent, it didn’t come out of the blue. There have been talks regarding the two-time Hall of Famer joining forces with Khan’s promotion ever since his WWE contract ended back in 2021. Flair clarified that he stepped out of the WWE ring due to the difference of vision with the higher-ups and the split was nothing but positive.

Immediately after his release, there were reports that he would be likely to dip his feet in the AEW ring when he was legally free. Almost two years later, the prediction apparently came out true last Wednesday even if the nature of its role and the official contract is still under the cover.

That said, Sting gave a crucial update on Flair’s immediate future in AEW in his latest social media post. He hinted at a potential Sting vs Flair match on Instagram, saying, ”He put me on the map in the very beginning, and @ricflairnatureboy is going to be with me every step of the way, and we’ll go out together in a blaze of glory! WWWOOOO! OOOWWW! It’s showtime! 👊🏼🦂”

But the idea left fans extremely grossed out as they don’t really want to see Flair wrestle again, especially as the final opponent of the fellow WCW alum.

Fans seem vexed over the idea of a potential Sting vs Ric Flair match

Amidst an action-jacked Dynamite, Flair took the people off guard by joining his former WCW buddies Sting and Tony Schiavone in the ring. After his big words on Sting’s legacy and their incredible bout on TBS at the inaugural Clash of the Champions event in 1988, Christian Cage entered and teased a six-man tag team match.

After the segment went off the air, Sting made another tease on his potential last match with Flair. It really didn’t sit well with most of the fans. Considering Flair’s age and his current physical stamina, they can’t expect much of a match involving Nature Boy.

They in fact see the predicted showdown as a potential lowest turn in AEW’s trajectory.

Some of them however didn’t have any issue with Flair landing in a managerial post in AEW as it was reported earlier. They just aren’t ready to see him lacing up his boots again.

Some saw it as a degrading move from both parties.

They believe a potential match between Sting and Flair will be a blow to both of their individual legacies.

One user even called it the funniest shit.
