Taking time away from his Hollywood schedule, John Cena has returned to WWE for a part-time role. He has been featured in every episode of SmackDown since September 1st and has also been featured in some dark-shows as well. He will feature in the main event of Fastlane alongside LA Knight, but WWE has plans to use him for other upcoming shows as well.

Going by the history of Crown Jewel, Cena will probably feature in Saudi Arabia as well. However, amidst the ambiguity of his match against Roman Reigns, who will face the 16x Champion at the PLE?

After serving WWE for over 20 years, Cena is giving back to WWE for all the support he received. While WWE is using Cena to promote upcoming talents like Austin Theory and Grayson Waller, there might be more in store with Cena’s current run, including a probable heel turn at Fastlane. Sources such as BWE have speculated rumors about Cena’s heel turn, something WWE fans have wanted for ages.

While his match against The Tribal Chief remains doubtful, let us look at some of the top candidates WWE will use to feud against Cena.

BWE revealed that WWE is in talks with Cena to start a feud against Cody Rhodes. This storyline will work as a passing of the torch moment for WWE as Cena’s career is coming to an end while Rhodes is flying high at the moment. However, before Cena vs. Rhodes at Crown Jewel PLE, they might feature at Fastlane too. Considering how high Nick Khan is for Rhodes, WWE might pull this off.

LA Knight will team up with Cena to fight The Bloodline at the main event of Fastlane. Considering the hype around Knight, Cena can be used to elevate Knight. One possible storyline for this could be seeded during their match at Fastlane.

Former NXT Champion Karrion Kross has failed to replicate his NXT run on the main roster. Although he has faced many top stars in the main roster, no star has helped him elevate. So, WWE may try to use Cena to push Kross one last time. Especially since Kross hinted at something big a few days ago on his social media.

All three stars are notable in their own right, with insane mic skills and experience behind them. With Cena used as a launching board for stars at the moment, the possibilities are endless on who’ll be next. The Saudi Arabia show, Crown Jewel, is just a few weeks away and WWE is already occupied with building up storylines for the show. Fastlane may serve as grounds to build hype for the show as top superstars like Roman Reigns will return. Going by the history and nature of the PLE, it will probably be another superstar-stacked lineup.
