At first, Cody Rhodes said he was going to step down from his rightful spot as a challenger for the Universal title on a recent episode of SmackDown. This would have let The Rock face Roman Reigns in what could have been the biggest main event match in WrestleMania history since The Rock needed to settle a feud within The Bloodline.

However, when it showed up that Reigns and The Rock were in cahoots to take over the spotlight at the Showcase of the Immortals, Rhodes turned the script, invoking his right as the Royal Rumble winner to challenge Reigns right away. It looks like Rhodes has attained another shot at completing his story this year but will things truly be as straightforward as portrayed? Here’s why we think The Brahma Bull could turn his back on his family and align with The American Nightmare.

What a shock! The Rock has turned heel. Over the last few weeks, WWE turned on its head when The Rock embraced his ‘Hollywood Rock’ persona and became a villain for the first time in over twenty years. This has set up a possible tag team match at WrestleMania 40 between Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, and The Rock and Roman Reigns. But it has also set up a lot more that could change the face of WWE even more.

Once Cody Rhodes came out to claim his main event spot from The Rock, Reigns made some hurtful comments about Rhodes’ father. The former AEW replied that the Bloodline elders would feel bad about his reign of tyranny. This made The Rock so mad that he slapped Rhodes and nailed his flawless heel turn down.

The Rock is going to fight Roman Reigns. It’s just a matter of when. In an interview with ESPN First Take, the Hollywood star hinted that the story might take some time to develop. Even though it was great to see “Hollywood Rock” again, Johnson’s speech hit some familiar notes. Seeing how his character develops as we move closer to WrestleMania will be interesting.

Upon his return, Johnson first claimed that he wanted to sit at the Head of the Table which means he would have to usurp Roman Reigns from his position as the top dog of The Bloodline. He could achieve his goals by first stripping the things that Reigns holds dear. Helping the Royal Rumble winner in dethroning The Tribal Chief means that Reigns’ power and stature dwindles and his spot could be prime for the taking.

The Bloodline storyline has been the crown jewel of the WWE in recent years with its long-term storyline proving fruitful. The arc could come to a close with the implosion of the faction, which means that sabotage and betrayals could be on display in their full glory. An internal struggle in The Bloodline also means that Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikao would have to choose sides leading to numerous new arcs to explore. Nevertheless, The Rock’s heel turn has given fans reason to celebrate as they enjoy the new side of Johnson. Only time will tell if the Hollywood star sticks by his family or turns his back on them in pursuit of glory and authority.
