CM Punk suffered a major injury during his much-awaited in-ring return. Though he lost his chance at Rumble, he was booked to win the Elimination Chamber and face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania. WWE has been building up the rivalry since Punk made his return, however, the plans failed due to Punk’s injury.

The Scottish Warrior, Drew McIntyre pitched in between as the backup plan amidst the sudden failure. However, the two superstars have not stopped making small references to Punk despite the injury ruling him out for months. But why is it so? Why can’t WWE superstars give CM Punk a break?

Well, first of all, Punk’s name is too big for WWE to keep away from the limelight. It was evident from the pop he received on his first appearance at Royal Rumble since his return. Besides this, WWE has heavily invested in Punk. They would’ve paid Punk a fortune to return to WWE along with the reputation at stake due to their sour history.

However, fans do not have to worry as Punk’s injury has forced him away from the ring only for a brief period. WWE has some future storylines in place for Punk once he returns. Also, WWE values Punk’s mic skills and they are planning to keep him as a commentator till he heals. So, it would make for a great storyline between Punk and Rollins or McIntyre while Punk is in the booth.

But WWE has played smartly to not let Punk’s name slip away even though he is ruled out of WrestleMania with an injury to his left tricep.

While expressing his views on MMA, he said, “I’d go in there and get knocked out and choked out in two seconds. I’d probably do better than Punk [CM Punk], but I would still lose, most likely.” Well, that’s an old joke that has been pulled on Punk by many.
