John Cena is undoubtedly one of the most iconic names in the WWE. He has seemingly won the hearts of many, not only because of his in-ring prowess but also because of his speechcraft. Throughout a career spanning several decades, Cena has left his mark on the history of sports entertainment, enthralling millions of people with his enticement and never-give-up attitude. Now, the 46-year-old is locked to have one of his toughest adversaries in the form of Solo Sikoa at Crown Jewel.

Moreover, the match is part of his ongoing run with the company. Well, it has been over two months since Cena has consistently appeared on WWE shows. But as his current run with the Stamford-based promotion progressed, the fans had a crucial doubt in mind. They wanted Cena to have at least one run as the major champion in the company. But now that LA Knight has been locked to face Roman Reigns for the undisputed strap, the faithful got to know that Cena won’t be fighting for the record-breaking feat. But why is it so?

The presence of LA Knight in the mix might be one of the major reasons that restricted Cena from fighting Reigns at Crown Jewel. The 40-year-old is beloved by the masses, all because of his charisma and prowess behind the mic. Due to this, he has been a head-turner in the latest buzz. With his insane popularity in mind, the management couldn’t help but put him in a feud with The Bloodline. And from there, his major push was about to begin.

Knight has been a fan magnet for the past few months. From crossing paths with The Undertaker to winning the Slim Jim Battle Royal at SummerSlam, Knight has had everything to keep the fans intrigued. And the cherry on top was when WWE decided to team him up with The GOAT, John Cena, due to which the story has made him stand toe to toe with The Trible Chief. His popularity could also be judged by the day he missed a SmackDown show due to COVID-19. Because of this, the company had to pay refunds to those who attended the show.

Considering all the factors mentioned above, it was high time for LA Knight to get a push from the company. And because of this, Cena might not have gotten a shot at the title.

The Stamford-based promotion is known to push the newer and regular stars in the company. Notably, the likes of Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, and AJ Styles were a few of the superstars who were groomed to reach the frontlines by the promotion. At this point, WWE needed to groom a new face in the company, and LA Knight could be that guy. Moreover, Cena might not have anything to achieve right now. He is already standing at the top of the mountain with a record of 16 title reigns, which is equivalent to the record of Ric Flair.

Thus, it shouldn’t be wrong to say that John Cena might be in the limbo of his wrestling career. The 46-year-old has completely transitioned to the film industry since 2019. And has not been frequently stepping inside the squared circle ever since.

Given this, it is obvious that his body might not take more damage, and being a champion, he had to stay in the company for a longer tenure. And this wouldn’t have been possible for Cena. Had he been fighting Reigns in Riyadh, he might have lost that match and it couldn’t have done justice with his current run. Hence, WWE might have had other thoughts concerning the headliner of Crown Jewel.
