Fans had been waiting for Cody Rhodes and CM Punk to share the ring together and deliver the promo that they had been teasing about since last week. But surely no one expected the intensity of the promo to boil over. To summarize it in one word, it was pure cinema. Several truth bombs, high-level intensity, and two legends in one frame. Fans couldn’t have asked for anything better. But if there was a moment that stole the show, it was when Cody Rhodes spat fire by taking a jab at CM Punk’s infamous pipe bomb.
Cody Rhodes showcases the irony between him and CM Punk
As ‘American Nightmare’ and ‘The Cult of Personality’ graced the ring together, expectations were high. The two have garnered a reputation for being among the best when it comes to mic skills. And they sure delivered it. Punk started the promo by telling a story from the past that included Rhodes’ father calling him and asking Punk to take care of Cody Rhodes. Now that Rhodes has all grown up, Punk is proud of him.

However, as the promo proceeded further, the heat between the two grew more intense. That is when Punk took a jibe at Rhodes’ privilege, as he grew up being the son of a WWE legend, and things were easier for him. Punk said, “I didn’t have a famous dad. My dad was a blue-collar electrician,” before further adding, “I’m more the American Dream than you are.”
With a line so brutal, there’s usually no coming back, but this is no normal promo. The 2023 Royal Rumble winner retaliated by mentioning how the Chicago-based star was the voice of the voiceless, the cult of personality who was against authority and dropped the infamous pipe bomb. However, when the time came, he ran away. And it was him who took over his responsibility, making him more CM Punk than Punk himself.

“When you left, you didn’t pass the torch; you dropped it. You know who picked it up. I did. Everything you spoke about (in the pipe bomb), I did. When you talked, I walked. What’s actually ironic is that it makes me more CM Punk than you,” he said.
