“We Shared a Bond”: Despite Past Animosity, Hulk Hogan Pays a Beautiful Tribute to The Iron Sheik Just Hours After His Sad Demise

Perhaps there would be no Hulk Hogan without The Iron Sheik. It is no secret Sheik played a vital role in the rise of Hulkamania in the 80s. The iconic rivalry between the two stars paved the way for Hogan’s massive success in the pro wrestling world. 

Unfortunately, Sheik is no more. He left for his heavenly abode while he was sleeping at his home on June 7, Wednesday. After two days, ‘The Hulkster’ finally broke social media silence to pay a beautiful tribute to his former rival, who helped to shape his career. 

Hulk Hogan bids farewell to The Iron Sheik

Hogan recently went to his Facebook account to write a heartfelt message to Sheik. In his tweet, he expressed his grief about the pro wrestling world losing a true icon. He remembered his contributions to his industry and cherished all the battles he fought with him. 

He mentioned he shared a very special bond with his former nemesis that only pro wrestlers can understand. Highlighting his talent and charisma, he stated Sheik has a one of a kind legacy that will live forever. In the end, he prayed for his departed soul. 

Indeed, Hogan and Sheik had a very special bond that is incomprehensible to the common eye. But one thing fans know for sure is that the two forged one of the most iconic rivalries in the history of WWE.

Hogan and Sheik’s iconic rivalry 

The late WWE Hall of Famer came from an Iranian heritage, which gave his Middle Eastern villain gimmick a lot of depth. Pitting foreign villain Sheik with American Hero Hogan was one of the wisest moves WWE made in the Golden Era. The epic rivalry began in January 1984, when both the stars locked horns for the first time.

At Madison Square Garden, New York, the two engaged in a battle that saw Hogan come out victorious. In the ending segment of the match, Sheik locked Hogan in his iconic camel clutch, but ‘Hulkamania’ powered through and broke his submission move, becoming the first man to do so.

Hogan then hit his finishing move atomic leg drop that helped him secure the win and the WWF World Heavyweight Championship. Ever since then, the two have feuded inside the ring and on social media as well. But in reality, both the stars were pretty close to each other.
