WWE and AEW insiders have been continuing to trade barbs on social media following the massive Tuesday Night War. Tony Khan went so far as to take shots at the rival promotion’s marquee figures with obnoxious language. His series of attacking tweets were heavily countered by many WWE veterans, fans, and even a large portion of AEW employees.
That said, amid this air of crisis between two global juggernauts, former WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens walked in a different direction, referring to a top AEW star’s well-being in his recent press meet.

Top AEW talent Adam Cole ended up shattering his knees in the AEW Grand Slam. It left him missing a number of opportunities in the business. Earlier today, Cole finally underwent a big surgery and his long-time buddy from the different promotion couldn’t care more.
After Jey Uso was announced to be traded at Monday Night Raw, Nick Aldis revealed that Owens would go to SmackDown. After the trade, Owens appeared in a non-televised backstage interview, where he showed genuine concern over the former WWE NXT star, Adam Cole, on his recent surgery.
KO noted, ”Before I go, I just want to say I have a friend named Adam who had a very serious surgery today. He’s at the hospital now, recovering. I just wanna say, ‘Adam, we love you. We’re with you, and take care of yourself, buddy.”

Besides getting recognition as a force to be reckoned with in his craft, The Prizefighter is widely known for his good-guy vibe backstage. This trait helped him get a few good friends in the promotion.
Many of them couldn’t get the chance to continue with him in WWE, but still managed to keep the bond intact.
Current AEW star Adam Cole is one of them. The duo never butted heads with each other for a single WWE match during their tenure in the Stamford-based company. Only once, they were on the opposite sides of the ring at the NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2019.

Cole previously revealed how Owens helped him in finding his feet in the independent circuit. He took him under his wing in PWG and the bond has grown stronger ever since.
