There was a time when Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson running for President of the United States was a dream or a meme. This depends on which side you were standing on. However, after his recent debut on the What Now? with Trevor Noah podcast, it was revealed that it was a very real possibility. Despite being asked by both parties to run, Johnson declined the offer. Years later, he reveals his stance on the possibility of resuming where he left off.

Back in 2017, Johnson threw up the idea of running for president on social media, which went viral. Now, looking at 2024, that could very well happen.

Dwayne Johnson hints at running for the Presidential election

Dwayne Johnson is currently in the spotlight for completing a massive achievement for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. The organization that helps terminally ill children fulfill their dreams got Johnson to complete the most wishes granted by a single celebrity in a day.

While talking to Jacob Soboroff from the Today’s Show, Johnson subtly hinted at his future plans. He was discussing his Make-a-Wish endeavors when the interviewer asked about his chances for a presidential run. At the 3:20 mark in the video, he finally gives us a hint, a very subtle hint.

Johnson said, “Here’s what I can tell you with 100% certainty. I believe in working hard, controlling the controllables, kicking a** and always give back,” To this, Soboroff was quick to acknowledge that Johnson did not say no to the possibility. The Hollywood star himself acknowledged the answer he gave and had a chuckle about it. With Johnson not saying no to the possibility, one can assume that he is open to the chance of a presidential run.

While the WWE legend made his stance on running for president clear on the What Now? with Trevor Noah podcast, things may have changed. Johnson believes in giving back to the public, and this could be the biggest way he does so. But what changed for the Hollywood star?

Why didn’t Johnson run for President earlier?

As mentioned earlier, Dwayne Johnson touched upon the topic with a valid reason. On the podcast, he said, “I know what it’s like to have that separation and not be there for the birthdays and not be there for the pickups, drop-offs, and everything else.” He explained how committing to one role would take away from the others he has as a father.

However, it looks like the allure of working for the people of the United States continues to plague the back of his mind. With his recent answer, his idea for a presidential run has changed from a no to a maybe, if the cards are right. The WWE icon has demonstrated a remarkable prowess in transitioning across various realms of life and etching success in all the fields he stepped foot in. The Hollywood star can attain the same standard of success he has set for himself if he opts to pursue this ambition of his.
